Guidelines for grant seekers Faculty of Archeology

These guidelines are obligatory for all grant proposals above 10.000 euro, and recommended for other grant applications. Applications not presented to the Board of the Faculty with an advice from the Research Committee will not be supported by the Faculty.

Step 1

Visit the research support services website of Leiden University:

Step 2

At least 12 weeks prior to the submission deadline of the potential funding body: approach your supervisor/ chairgroupholder  and/or the Dean and discuss your desired grant & funding body in order to establish a personal coaching path.

Step 3

At least four weeks prior to the submission deadline of the potential funding body: submit your proposal by email to the Research Committee (r.manning@arch.leidenuniv.nl). Contact Erik Stavleu at FdA for primary inspection of the budget part. LURIS (Anke Klerkx) might be helpful: J.H.E.M.Klerkx@luris.nl. For ERC please contact Anna Groeninx: ak.groeninx@luris.nl.

Step 4

The proposal is evaluated by the Research Committee: the applicant will receive feedback in person or by email. The applicant may be invited by the Committee for a discussion of the contents of the proposal.

Step 5

Submit your final proposal to the Board of the Faculty, cc Research Committee. In case of ERC contact LURIS: Anna Groeninx ak.groeninx@luris.nl or Lidia Zepeda l.tieman@luris.nl for the mandatory Host Letter one week before deadline.

Step 6

Submit your proposal to the potential funding body

Results:

  1. Peer reviews from the funding body? LURIS can assist in writing a response
  2. Invited for an interview? Coaching may be helpful (Kick Moors, LURIS)
  3. Success? Please inform the Faculty Board Secretary
  4. Unsuccessful? Please inform the Faculty Research Committee
  5. Re-submittance? Withdrawal? Please inform the Faculty Research Committee
