Guidelines for grant seekers
These guidelines are obligatory for all NWO or ERC grant proposals. No deviation from this schedule will be accepted. They are recommended for other grant applications (EU, LUF and others). Applications not presented to the Board of the Faculty with an advice from the Research Committee will not be supported by the Faculty.
Step 1
Visit the research support services website of Leiden University:

Step 2
At least 12 weeks prior to the submission deadline of the potential funding body: approach your supervisor and/or the Dean Prof. W. Willems and discuss your desired grant and funding body. When your grant application is approved a personal coaching path will be established.

Step 3
Write your concept proposal and submit this by email to the Research Committee (r.manning@arch.leidenuniv.nl) - at least eight weeks prior to the submission deadline of the potential funding body. Draft applications go to Erik Stavleu at FdA for primary inspection of the budget part. LURIS (Anke Klerkx) might be helpful: J.H.E.M.Klerkx@luris.nl. Step 4
The proposal is evaluated by the RC: the applicant will receive feedback in person or by email. The applicant may be invited to a meeting of the RC for a discussion of the proposal.
Step 5
Submit the full draft of your proposal (on the grant application form, including the financial paragraph) to the RC at least three weeks prior to the submission deadline of the potential funding body. Feedback from the RC to the applicant will be in writing and/or in person. The RC informs the Board of the Faculty.
Step 6
Submit your final proposal to the Board of the Faculty, cc Research Committee. In case of ERC contact LURIS: Anna Groeninx ak.groeninx@luris.nl or Lidia Tieman l.tieman@luris.nl for the mandatory Host Letter one week before deadline.
Step 7
Submit your proposal to the potential funding body.

Step 8
Whatever the results:
(i) invited for an interview? Coaching may be helpful (Kick Moors, LURIS)
(ii) peer reviews from the funding body: the RC may assist in writing a response
(iii) success: the applicant informs the RC
(iv) unsuccessful: the applicant obtains feedback from funding body& informs the RC
(v) re-submittance? Withdrawal? the applicant informs the RC
