Deadlines for the Innovational Research Incentives Scheme 2010

In 2010 there will be one application for each of the subsidy sorts

• The deadline for the Veni round in 2010 is on 7 January
• The deadline for the Vidi round in 20010 is on 11 February
• The deadline for pre-proposals for the Vici round in 20010: pre-proposals  on 30 March; full proposals based on the pre-proposals is on 31 August 2010.

The Science Committee of the Faculty of Archaeology would like to be informed about the subsidy proposals of the researchers of the Faculty.

What can be applied for

• for researchers who have recently taken their PhD, to allow them to continue to develop their ideas; a maximum of 250,000 euro.
• for researchers who want to develop their own innovative line of research and appoint one or more researchers; a maximum of 800,000 euro.
• for senior researchers to build their own research group; a maximum of 1,500,000 euro.
  

More flexibility for lecturers

The restriction for professors will be abolished for Vidi and Vici. Previously, professors were not entitled to apply for Vidi subsidies and the could only apply for a Vici subsidy if they had held a post as professor for less than three years.

No advance embedding

Form now on very experienced researchers will only have to make agreements with an institute or a university onze they heard that they are to receive a Vici subsidy. Before this change a researcher had to arrange this ëmbedding guarantee" in advance. This rule had allready been abolished for Veni and Vidi.

No institutional contribution

Up until 2008, an institution was required to pay 33 persent of the subsidy and NWO 67 persent. From 2008 onwards, NWO will pay the entire subsidy. The scrapping of this institutional contribution coincides with the transfer of 100 million euro from the universities to NWO.
