Jana Pesoutova is a PhD candidate at Leiden University. She obtained a Bachelor degree in linguistics (2010) and a Master degree in Management of Cultural Diversity combined with Intercultural Communication (2012).

Within NEXUS 1492, Jana investigates transformations of cultural landscapes in the Dominican Republic and Cuba. She will deploy ethnographic methods and critical historical analysis to assess developments of cultural associations with diverse natural features. She will focus also on the role of colonial discourse in transmission of traditional knowledge of land uses, cultural practices and values associated with culturally significant natural elements. Her main research interests are studies of representation, cultural change and participatory projects within archeology.
