Roswitha Manning studied Prehistory (with a research focus on Pre-Columbian Archaeology) at the University of Amsterdam. She wrote her MA thesis on Pre-Columbian collections in Dutch museums. Her postgraduate research concerned the female aspect of Maya religion (focusing on Maya goddesses and female religious expertise -past and present- in the Maya lowlands of Yucatán), resulting in a PhD at Leiden University in 1993.
She coordinates the PhD- track at the Graduate School of Archaeology (admission, registration, monitoring, courses), is contactperson for prospective PhD students, and confidential counsellor for PhD students.
She is also ‘senior policy officer Research’ (Secretary of the Faculty’s Research Committee, and coordinator of internal and external Research Assessments).
In addition, in 2014 she became advisor to the alumni policy of the Faculty of Archaeology.
