Dr. Darlene Weston received a PhD in Physical Anthropology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London, UK, after previously studying Archaeology at Simon Fraser University, Canada [(BA(Hons)] and Osteology, Palaeopathology, and Funerary Archaeology at the University of Bradford, UK [MSc (distinction)]. She is a human osteologist and palaeopathologist whose research focuses on health and disease, palaeodemography, and funerary archaeology in the Caribbean, Greece, the UK, and Canada. Formerly the co-ordinator of the undergraduate Minor in Human Osteoarchaeology at Leiden University, Dr Weston is currently Assistant Professor of biological anthropology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, as well as a visiting researcher in the Archaeology Faculty at Leiden University, and an associated scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany.
